Lipari is the largest of the Aeolian Islands, and its port is located on the eastern side of the island, connecting it with Sicily. The Scalo Porto Sotto Monastero is located north of the castle and the commercial pier hosts ferries. Most of the quay is reserved for tourist boats stopping for passengers boarding and disembarking, but during the evening private recreational boats are also allowed in the port.
