The island of Ventotene has two ports, the Porto Romano and a modern port in the Cala Rossano area, called Porto Nuovo. The Roman Port is intended for the docking of small boats and small fishing vessels. This small harbor is protected by Punta Pertuso, a rock that goes south forming a natural pier. The New Port is the landing point for commercial and passenger ferries, hydrofoils, large ships and boats for transport to and from the mainland.
